When you turn 18 you always want something really special to happen. Like a surprise party for example. This is the one that you REALLY didn't see coming, and you will remember for the rest of your life. All of your best friends are there, the food and cakes are amazing, and your mom brought your favorite dress, the perfect one for this special night, so you can wear that throughout the whole night. And when you get kids you can show them the dress from your favorite birthday party, the huge supriseparty you got from your best friends when you turned 18. And in the back of your head you know that this is something you are going to do for your kids once they turn 18.
Of course it is important to note that this plan, and your life story will change if someone spoils your surprise party. Someone ALWAYS has to say too much.
It was all going well. We were planning the surprise party for Ashley and everything was going after the plan. We, her four best friends Tasha, Hannah, Jenna and Julia, had made an "invitation" on facebook, with dress code, what to bring and where when and how long. (Then again it is important to mention that the last one is never something you really can plan). Everything started out really well. In lunch we found the location, we figured out the theme and after 2 weeks of planning everything was going like a train on tracks in 100 mph. (Now enough with the Hannah Montana like metaphors). The night was finally here, and the only thing that was missing now was Ashley. Jenna had the honor of bringing the birthday girl to the location. Her only job for this night was to shut up about the party for ten minutes while they were driving in the car. So, they were on their way to the party, everything was going smooth. The location was Ashley's mom workplace. She worked at a restaurant, and in the basement there was a club, which they decorated with lots of pink decorations, glitter, cool lighting and an amazing DJ they had been extremely lucky with getting the honor to have there that night.
Now, the plan was to tell Ashely that she and Jenna was on their way to meet up the rest of the girls for dinner that nigh, and a movie afterward, but then her mom needed something from home broght to her work. Something she supposedly had forgotten that morning. Sweet as Ashely is she completely believed her 100% and offered to drive over with it before they left for dinner. When they finally came to the location they both jumped out of the car, both exited for what was going to happen, one for the surprise and the happy face on her best friends face that soon was going to show, at the other, for a girls night out.
As mentioned they jumped out of the car, headed towards the door, and were just randomly talking. This is when it happened:
Ashley: I;m so exited for tonight, were going to have so much fun! OMG I can't believe I'm 18!
Jenna: Yeah, I know! Just act surprised, we have spend a lot of time on this thing!
Ashley: What?
In that moment Jenna knew she had said too much. She looked down, thinking that she was going to be murdered by her friends, because they had probably heard the whole thing because the building was empty of costumers and the whole place was dead-quiet. She started calling on Ashely's mom (which was the next stage of the plan. Even though this was supposed to be what Ashley was going to do. Her mom just followed the plan and said that she was downstairs. this was their plan for leading them down to the basement without any suspicions. They started walking down the stair. Ashley had a bit of a worried expression on her face, because she was trying to figure out what her friend meant by saying what she just said? When they came down stairs everyone was looking forward to see Ashely's expression when she saw that all of her friends where there to celebrate the day with her. But it didn't quite go that way.
Everyone jumped up, turned on the light, threw glitter up in the air and screamed out "SURPRISE!". Unfortunately her expression was not what they had hoped for. Her eyebrows were cramped together. her mouth wide open, her body stiff and her arms just hanging down. Not the jumping and screaming girl they had hoped for. But after a few seconds of silence Ashley pulled it together and added to plus two and understood what her friend had meant by what she said earlier. "Ooohhh! You guys!!" Ashely said and got tears in her eyes. Everyone screamed cause all in all it did turn out well. All of her friends came and hugged her and they had an amazing birthday party.
Even though this time it turned out well, it will not always tun out this good. Jenna has always thought about what she is saying before she actually says it after that night. She does not wanna spoil anything ever again!

Unecceptable behavior
Since I'm an exchange student in a foreign country, I'm very careful with what I do at all times. I'm scared about doing something wrong, something that can make me get in trouble. Lately though, after 8 months in the US I've started to loosen up a bit more. I've gotten to understand that even if there is guards and police at school at most times, there is nothing wrong with being a normal teenager.
Even so, I know that there are rules, and I did not come here to break them. Everyday I see someone in the hallways at schools doing something they technically should not have done. Running in the hallways, screaming to each other or walking with they're pencils in they're hands (sharp edges, which can be dangerous). BUT, yesterday the most unacceptable and most disrespectable happened. It all started in my chemistry class. All of the boys were sitting in a group and talking, making a lot of noise. And as if that was not bad enough, when our teacher asked us to sit down, it actually to 15 seconds for them to sit down in their assigned seats and keep quiet. 15 seconds!?!?! Hello? Didn't you hear her ask you guys to sit down and keep quiet NOW? Anyways, the worst didn't happen until about 5 minutes later: one of the guys, John, got called up to talk with the teacher and while he was walking one of his shoelaces loosened up, and he almost fell. The room was completely quiet, and no one said a word. In my mind all I was thinking was "just keep on walking and pretend that nothing happened and maybe she wouldn't see it”. But no, it was too late. He already started to bend down to tie his laces. How could he? It was so disrespectful! Who on earth would tie they're shoe laces in front of the teacher. It was a horrible sight. After he was done tying his laces, he looked around in the classroom, with a worried look, wondering why everyone was so quiet. Some students just looked at him and shaked their heads. He turned around, looking at the teacher, who btw had the most angry looking expression in the history (personally I think it should have been in the Guinness Worlds Records). Then a light came shining down, and he understood what he had done. The only thing I could think was "why didn't you just go out in the hallway to tie you're laces", and "he should be punished!", as well as: " I'm so glad that was not me, then I probably would have been sent home based on my "unacceptable behavior".
In the end it ended with him being suspended for three days from school. All I can say is that he is lucky it was not more!

This was some adventure, huh?
Last week was my first week in this "VOICES" class, and it is so much fun! The first person I got to know in this class was Lena. She is another Norwegian exchange student! I joined her and her friends group, and our project is about eating ice cream. It is called "A 1000 way to eat ice cream". It's going to be hilarious! I can't wait to show the other students in our class the final result! We are going to film and edit all by our self. This is something I think can be a very fun task to do. I love filming and editing, which makes this class so much better than the other classes I'm taking. Since I came to the US I have bought myself a Mac Book Pro, which have given me some sort of skill in editing, something I hope is some of what I can contribute with in the group.
In the group we are three girls and one boy. I thought that he might feel a bit lonely, but he seems to be just fine! It was so funny when I told my mom about me changing class to a VOICES class. I told her about my first day and what she said was; "This was some adventure, huh?” Haha, she thinks that I am really lucky being able to study abroad and to experience all the things that I get to experience. This whole year has been like a big adventure for me. And I love it! I have been so blessed and I have gotten the chance to travel to the Bahamas, and to Hawaii. And this is just bonus to the fact that I am in America!
When I first started this VOICES class I was afraid that people wouldn’t like me, or would reject me since I was new and because of the fact that I started this class so late into the school year. There is only two months left! But they were all so nice to me and took good care of me the first couple of days. (They still do).
The benefit our group of four has is that the one guy in our group works at Dairy Queen, which means less expensive ice cream for us! (Everyone love free ice cream right??) The concept we have in our short movie is from this other TV-show "1000 ways to die". That show is suppose to be funny to, but I personally think about that what they actually are just acting, that is something that actually happened to someone somewhere in the world. This is what I think that is so unique with our concept. We do something funny, at the same time as well as we do something that actually could be real.
